We had a great time at the SA Indie Music Week 2015, hosted by IMEXSA (Independent Music Exporters South Africa). It’s really encouraging to see a collective that is so passionate about promoting independent artists abroad. The range of artists at the showcase was a true testament to the diversity of the wealth of talent we have in South Africa.
For the uninitiated, IMEXSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to develop South African-produced music around the world. They provide assistance, create export awareness, facilite export development and create opportunities for emerging music companies in South Africa. They are represented at major international festivals, such as the renowned South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, TX, and Primavera Pro, hosted at the iconic Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain.
So now we wait with baited breath until the 9th of May 2015 to find out whether we have been selected to attend any of these prestigious events. Our sincere thanks goes out to the organizers at IMEXSA for the opportunity to showcase some of our favourite songs from the Chocolate Box album, as well as Thabo from MzansiUrban Radio (http://www.mzansiurban.co.za/) for his expert coverage of the event. A special thanks to Graham and Lee and their technical team at the Lyric Theatre – these showcases are always a challenge for the technical crew and they handled it with unparalleled finesse – much respect guys!
